B FOR A VERY SPECIAL BIRTHDAY

I think it was Bob Hope who said: "You know you are getting old when the candles cost more than the cake"

But we all love birthdays don't we?

I'm terribly busy collecting them durians, but no way I'm gonna miss my A-Z Challenge - not on the second day anyway. So I had to pass this task to a guest writer. May I present to you grandson Numero Uno:

Hello, my name is Irfan Adam Irwan Shahrin Ismail (just call me Irfan.  My name is long because my papa and Grandpa want their names to be in too).  I am five years old.  Some of you may remember me.  I visited Grandpa's Farm once and wrote about it.  Then one day Grandpa babysit both my cousin Iskandar Zaqwan and me - I wrote about that too.

Grandpa wanted me to write something beginning with the letter B. He said it has to be in by midnight tonight, otherwise he's breaking some kind of rule. (I wonder why adults do Sesame Street stuff...)

I told Grandpa letter B is easy, it's my birthday today!

Easy for me too. The party's just over, so I'll just show you some pictures. Hope you like them.  I'm sorry I cannot show you my presents as I haven't opened them up yet. Tomorrow is schooling day, so I'm off to bed early.

The spread. My mama spent many stressful weeks
preparing for my birthday. Papa had a rough idea that
something big was coming up.

My friend's dad helping her decide
what to eat - too many to choose from!

You are not seeing double - they are my German twin friends

That's me in green, welcoming Aunt Afzan

My papa, mama, and Uncle Ike

My cousin Iskandar Zaqwan and his Mom

Mothers chit-chatting while the children play

Grandpa didn't like cupcakes, until he ate these. Now he's
addicted to them, I think

Aunty Alia who baked the
delicious cakes with her Uncle

Grandpa arrived with his car load of durians. The adults
went crazy and didn't care about us anymore.

Actually I wanted that seat, but I was told
to always give way to ladies.

Zaqwan is still a baby so he cannot join us big people -
he has to play on his own

Some ladies became too hard to handle
so I tried putting them to sleep

I blew the five candles after my
friends sang "Happy Birthday"

A whole ute full of durians. I've never tasted one - someday though perhaps with a nose peg on! Lovely post by Ifran.

Happy Birthday Irfan. What a wonderful celebration. Now I know what your Grandpa's name is. I am surprised he was allowed in with that truck load of durian!;) If he had opened up them durians as he said it, I think it would've been a different kind of party;)

Irfan, you are such a lovely boy. You are five today and that is a very big number. Happy birthday again, and maybe you could share with us again what gift Grandpa got you;)

erica and christy - I wish they were truck load of money! lol!
