L FOR LEOPARD

Panthera is hungry. She's been scouring the jungle all morning and had not come across as much as a little deer that she could have for breakfast.  Sometimes she wished she's a vegetarian.

It was almost lunch time.

She was about to give up and head for the shade when she spotted a dog.

"Here's my lunch" she salivates.

The dog was busy helping herself to some leftover bones.  She sensed danger.  As the leopard closed in, without turning around she said audibly:

"I never knew leopards taste so yummy!", and continued licking the bones.

The leopard stopped in her track, and turned back, tummy growling.

Witness to all this was a monkey.

"Hmmm...the dog is not going to get away with this! I'm going to tell on her".

The monkey told the leopard she's been tricked.

"Come on then, jump on my back and let's go after that dog", said the hungry and angry leopard.

The dog had finished her meal when she saw the leopard and monkey coming.  Would that be her last meal?

Turning her back to the leopard and the monkey, the dog let them approach to within hearing distance, then grumbled loudly:

"I wonder what happened to that monkey.   It was a while ago I asked him to get me another leopard"

Ah Grandpa,
Well, you finally reached 'L'. Sorry for not getting to your 'K', by the way. Wow, note I sort of did some unintentional poetry..you see...
"Spotted a dog." Interesting, if you spotted a dog, you could make it look like a leopard, or in the case of a dalmatian, no need.
Nice one Grandpa and I'm glad I spotted your latest posting.
In peace and polka dots, your way, Gary :)

Gary, good grief, where have you been. I'm mighty glad you spotted the dog. She was going to become luncheon meat... (I never imagined a dalmatian can pass for a leopard, until you mentioned that).

You must read my K Gary, that is if you have any intention of travelling to the African continent.
Take care my friend.

MM.. now that is a very clever dog! I wonder whether there is any similarity to those Malay mousedeer stories of old ;).

As one grandpa to another, I enjoyed the dog and leopard story...very funny and reminds me for some reason of the political babble in this country at the moment. The Farm sounds like a great place to retire to... I retired to my blog, and, after a lifetime in the advertising business, I found the blogging world to be as stimulating and creative. I'm sure this has been your finding also. Your blog's joie de vivre shows.
My best. Count Sneaky.

Wan, I think dogs are as intelligent as the mousedeer, but for obvious reason had not been the subject of our folklores.

baygirl32, me too...I'm fearful for his life :(

Count Sneaky, Welcome to The Farm!
I agree - blogs are perhaps the other and final dimension I needed after The Farm for my retirement. It is selfish not to share the fruits of your labor or your stories.
Thanks for stopping by.

I am still laughing at that story. I had to read it to Jack because he thought I was having a fit. Now he is laughing too.
Thank you Grandpa for a really good laugh.

Hahahaha! Go dog! (But I also love leopards...and monkeys...) Well, monkeys that are dogs. My monkey, Ike, was a Black Labrador retriever.

erica and christy - thanks erica, yes, she's a clever one, isn't she.

Alison, nothing like a good laugh, eh.

Her highness, I have seen your beautiful monkey - he's adorable, the coat color's like Ella's.

Just goes to show if we only use our heads, the solution is ever present. Love this story. There's a similar one about a coyote, a rabbit, and a bear. Thanks, Grandpa.

Oh clever dog! LOL

Joylene, it is like one of those puzzles where you have to thnik beyond borders to get the answer.
You are welcome.

Akelamalu, yes, she is.

Strange somehow, to think of a cat eating a dog.

Wow, that dog's one smart cookie! My dog, however, would never make it in the jungle! LOL.
