C FOR CAMOUFLAGE

Camouflage is a method of crypsis or hiding.  It allows an otherwise visible organism to remain unnoticed by blending with its environment.

Cryptic coloration is the most common form of camouflage. It is very common in the animal world.  Humans adopt the same strategy in warfare by having combat soldiers wear the colors of the jungle and cover themselves with jungle foliage.

Hi Nikki, good question - I don't know the exact name but it is like a grasshopper. The leaf is that of our cempedak, a fruit that looks almost exactly like the jackfruit, which you can see in the background.

L'Aussie, Hi Denise, I thought of that, my ciku and carambola too!

Thanks, I look forward to reading your next country - Chile?

today we saw a guy walking along the road - he had a bright "high visibility" yellow jacket and camouflage pants... we laughed that the two were canceling each other out.

have a glorious day!

I actually quite like bugs, apart from spiders. And bees, but actually I like the bees, I just like them at a safe distance. Camouflage bugs are the best!

baygirl32, secret agent woman - that's how good the camouflage is;

Aishah - Tuhan maha kaya;

Ohiofarmgirl - some people's clothes are loud - hardly a camouflage. I know there's a sequel to being famous, hope to read all about it soon. You too have a glorious day!

Su - Most people are arachnophobic. Bees are useful - just stay away from them.

I was thinking Chameleon too. I think that green hopper in your pic is commonly called a 'Katydid bug'. Great shot...and a very clever disguise.

Serena, I think you are right. This pic has been on my file for a while - I took it during one of my walkabouts around The Farm, so I thought why not I use it now...yes it is a clever disguise.

There's a bug? I'll have to go back. I like your blog - I have a wee farm - well a house and chicken coop - in Nova Scotia which is not a jungle...I love it here though and I like your enthusiasm too.
