I should probably enter this under 'U', but patience is not my virtue. Besides there are millions out there who stand to benefit from this amazing discovery, why should I wait any longer?
A plant known as TONGKAT ALI (Eurycoma longifolia) has been growing peacefully deep in the Malaysian jungle for many years, until one day somebody discovered that it can do more than cure malaria and diabetes: it can give Viagra makers a run for their money!!
(Ali is a common name for the Malay male; Tongkat is Malay for staff - and I'm not talking about the worker in the office, or the walking stick here).
There was a rush to pull out its roots, boil them, mix them with coffee or tea or capsulised them for consumption. The rest is erotic history that turned this once humble plant into a libidator and money-making machine.

And the root |
The roots run deep, very deep so you need a chain or a tractor to pull them out - no pain no gain. (Check out those muscles, they are not from pumping iron). |
If you can get your hands on some of those, all you need is a mortar and pestle to pound them in.
Then boil it for at least six hours and you're good to go.
Entrepreneurs had turned them into pills and capsules, and had mixed them up with coffee too. So don't tell me you can't take it, surely one of the formulations is suitable for you.

Loved it!
Oh my. Good to know, I guess. I do love that so much good comes out of our Earth!
Interesting. No need for that in our house though!
Haven't seen a need for it, but interesting information.
I like the starfruit in a previous post. I use them sometimes in fruit salad, because they are so cool looking.
There's obviously going to be a run on this plant Grandpa. Funny. They say the cure for everything lies in our jungles (which unfortunately are fast disapperaring.)

Glad to know that grandpa is promoting our very own libidator ;)))
Your posts are all so fascinating, Grandpa. I learn something new every time. Thanks. Happy Easter.
for heavens sakes!
Carole, glad you like it!
Brooke, the Earth is a treasure of everything natural, if only we know how to unlock it, and conserve it for future generations;
Alex, of course, now that you are a strong healthy young man, but you'll be forty, then fifty, then you may want to explore our jungle :)
secret agent woman, I know you don't need it, but your partner may... ;)
L'Aussie, it's not that easy to get - they are deep in the jungle and in the ground. You are absolutely right Denise, our treasure trough is disappearing, I wish all nations embark on sustainable reforestation.
Wan, I coined that word which I'm sure most will understand. Always happy to do something for King and Country!
Joylene, thank you! I want to write something that requires a bit of research and imparts knowledge.
Happy Easter to you!
Ohiofarmgirl, I'm sorry if I upset you there pal!
hehehe, love the disclaimer! Sue@JumpingAground (Alliteration & drabbles)

Love the google ads below the post too! they're getting in on the act ;)
Sue, I thought I put that in... you never know... I don't want some incredible Hulk coming after me! :)
Despite its size, it is potent! Yes, a money - making machine alright!!
Keats, I'm hoping the Orang Asli and other jungle people would benefit too.
Hi Grandpa,
Yes, you can relax now. For I am here, yes me, shy and humble me, visiting your farm eh :)
It's 'hard' to imagine a plant can do that:) Glad you brought this up and you raised a good point about 'Tongkat' :) Seems like a better plan than a good 'stiff' drink eh
Gosh and what letter will 'U' be doing next in this amazing challenge that brings further awareness of the alphabet :)
Take care, my friend :)
And about time too, Gary, for I'm moving on to 'U' ... :)
It's quite amazing, isn't it what plants can do. And we have many around here - herbs that can cure.
As I'm thinking about 'U', have a peaceful week and take care, my friend.
hehehe *blush* This post goes nicely with my undies post!! :)
Hi Niki, I know all about your undies - but I didn't think it was my place to comment on a lady's blog. But I can do so on mine:
I like most the one 'on the rocks' he he he...You can be funny too! :))
lol thanks Grandpa :)
